Costa Rica contains nearly 6% of the world's biodiversity in a country the size of West Virginia. Every ecosystem sounds different — and this library captures that range in full 360-degree ambisonic space.
Nature & Water is a 30-recording spatial audio collection spanning four ecologically distinct zones of Costa Rica: Pacific coast, Caribbean Atlantic, Central Valley highlands, and tropical interior. From the directional crash of Pacific surf to the close, layered density of interior rainforest water sources, each recording places the listener inside the environment rather than in front of it.
Field Locations
Pacific Coast — Open-air coastal recordings where cliff terrain shapes the way wave energy arrives spatially. Wildlife, surf, and wind captured with full directional separation across the ambiX sphere.
Caribbean Atlantic — The Caribbean coast has its own acoustic character: rhythmic rather than crashing, with dense shoreline vegetation that absorbs and redirects sound. Fundamentally different from the Pacific side in texture, tempo, and biological presence.
Central Valley Mountains — High-altitude forest recordings with the particular quality that comes from mist, elevation, and thinner canopy cover. Cooler, more open, with longer decay and distinct species not found at lower elevations.
Tropical Interior — Dense jungle water sources: streams, cascades, and pools surrounded by active biological layers. The most spatially complex recordings in the library, with sound arriving from every elevation of the ambisonic sphere.
